In ancient times, the area now known as Ha Tay was reigned by the Good King Hung Vuong. One day the Mountain Genie, Son Tinh and the Water Genie, Thuy Tinh both fell madly in love with the King's beautiful daughter. The King decreed that the winner of his daughter's hand would be the first suitor to bring him an elephant with 9 turks, a cock with 9 spurs and a horse with 9 red hairs.
Mountain Genie, able to conjure up all things, instantly fulfilled the King's request. Furious, Water Genie unleashed violent winds and torrential rains in an attempt to destroy the entire kingdom. To stop this onslaught, Mountain Genie raised up the Ba Vi Mountains and forged a series of dams against the raging waters. By dawn the next day, calm prevailed and the vengeful Water Genie had been defeated.
Every year the spiteful Water Genie returns, bringing heavy rain to wage his battle yet again in Ha Tay. And every year, the benevolent Genie of the Ba Vi Mountains and the dam-keepers of the valley prevail to protect the people and creatures living below. At Kings’ Island, the legend lives on - whether hitting a golf ball on the challenging course - or by simply drifting silently through its charming embrace.
